Nyerere National Park is an immense area of protected wilderness that has remained untouched for thousands of years. You’ll explore this park on a day trip starting from Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam. Nyerere is the largest park and one of the best game-viewing areas in Africa. Covering a total area of about 54,600 sq. km (21,081 sq. miles), almost 6% of Tanzania’s land surface, it’s among the largest protected wet wilderness areas in Africa. Day-to-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Zanzibar – Nyerere National Park
You’ll start your day trip to Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve) with a morning flight at 6 am from Zanzibar, arriving in Nyerere at 7 am. Upon arrival at the Mtemere Airstrip, you will be met by our driver/guide and proceed with a packed lunch for a full-day game drive. Your day will be filled with exploring the park’s wildlife from your seat on an open-sided or open-roofed vehicle.
This comfortable and privileged journey through the wild African bush is a chance of a lifetime! You can expect to see many of the African mammals, including elephant, giraffe, lion, buffalo, zebra, and African wild dog. You’ll proceed with your journey exploring the African bush before returning to the airstrip at around 4 pm for your arranged flight back to Zanzibar.
Pick-ups and drop-offs for our clients at their respective hotels in Zanzibar are included in your tour price.
